Introduction:

The Quick Step Co-operative concept has developed quickly since May 2002, during 4 round table discussions with members from Burdekin, Hinchinbrook, Townsville / Thuringowa representing, DPI, Government Agencies, Regional Community Groups, Volunteering Townsville / Thuringowa Inc., and WorkNorth.

Quick Step Vision – That NQ has affordable, accessible volunteer training and support services for not for profit organisations.

Quick Step Mission – To facilitate the delivery of affordable, accessible volunteer training and support services to not for profit organisations in North Queensland.

Quick Step Goals –

• Access – Enhance education, information and support
• Acceptable – Augment up to date, relevant, current training and support opportunities
• Appropriate – Promote better outcomes for community networks
• Equity – More effective use of resources towards better client outcomes
• Affordable – Innovative delivery modes, roadshow/mobile or on-location services

• Identify and prioritise support needs.
• Identify and prioritise training needs.
• Research existing resources and training programs.
• Explore options for funding and methods of delivery.
• Utilise visiting support services.
• Utilise visiting trainers.
• Develop a support and training structure that addresses all levels of need.
• Deliver support and training in a cost efficient and timely fashion.
• Identify support and training capabilities in local communities i.e. talents, skills and qualifications.
• Create information links and exchanges to share information and resources and training dates.
• Develop a database of support personnel and trainers and areas of speciality.
• Develop a calendar of events for the year in advance.
